Why Do People Suffer from Spine Pain? – Euless

Pain is an issue that all of us experience at some time in our life. It involves the nerves sending signals to the brain and in some cases, pain may be beneficial. Unfortunately, when an injury occurs or if inflammation is present, those pain signals may be continuous and ongoing. At this point, we begin to experience chronic pain and it can certainly affect our quality of life. Many people in the Euless have such a problem, as it is one of the more common complaints people have.

Spine pain is one of the most common types of pain that people experience. In some cases, we may feel as if we have a spinal issue but it is actually the muscles in the area that are causing the problem. The problem may even come and go for some people, but when the pain is chronic, we want some relief. When spine pain occurs, it can really cause problems because it involves one of the most intricate systems in the human body.

The spine is made up of a series of bone-like structures known as vertebrae. They are held together with tendons and ligaments and in between each of the vertebrae is a sponge-like material that is known as the intervertebral disc. When a vertebra is damaged or if a disc is crushed or ruptured, it can lead to inflammation and may be resting against a nerve in the area. That can lead to severe pain and sometimes, additional symptoms as well. There may also be times when the problems exist but a nerve isn’t involved. Most people are able to live with such an issue since there is not any pain.

An example of how this might occur is if we are having problems with our sciatic nerve. This nerve runs through the lower back and down both of the legs. Sciatica is a common issue that takes place when the sciatic nerve is irritated or pinched. In reality, sciatica is only a symptom of another problem, typically an issue with the spine. A spine doctor will run the appropriate tests to determine if it is the sciatic nerve is involved.

When an individual suffers from sciatica, it is often necessary for them to see a spine doctor to look for available treatment options. The pain can be quite severe in the area of the lower back but, due to the way that the nerves work, it may also radiate pain to the hips, knees and down the legs. Some people with problems with the sciatic nerve may even experience incontinence.

What Options Are Available from a Spine Surgeon?

When you are experiencing spine pain and seek the assistance of a spine doctor in the Euless area, you can expect to be tested and given a diagnosis. They will often let you know about the specific problem you are dealing with and what may be able to help you overcome the pain that you are experiencing.

In many cases, a spine surgeon is not going to recommend surgery until it is absolutely necessary. Nonsurgical treatments may be offered, including chiropractic, physical therapy, hot and cold treatments or perhaps spinal injections. These are preferred because it does not involve any type of surgery. Sometimes, the spine doctor might even recommend a number of different treatments to see what helps before a final decision is made.

If surgery is recommended, we will only use a noninvasive procedure. It will still be able to correct the problem you are experiencing but it will do so with fewer issues involved. In fact, if you look into the benefits of using a noninvasive surgical procedure, you would always request that it be done for you if surgery is needed. Many of the operations that affect the spine can be done in a noninvasive manner. There are also many other types of procedures that are noninvasive as well. It always pays to look for the safer alternative when talking with a doctor.
